1. Introduction
Welcome to Pank. Pank is a social discovery app that helps people find, rate, review, save and share experiences. These experiences may include restaurants, bars, clubs, cafes, hotels, beaches, events, attractions, activities, venues, shops and other places or experiences now or in the future.
This Privacy Policy explains how Key Real AB, a company registered in Sweden, collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you use Pank, our website, our mobile app, and any related services. In this policy, "Pank," "we," "us" or "our" means Key Real AB. "You" means the person using Pank. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Summary
We collect data to operate Pank, help you discover experiences, personalize recommendations, show relevant content, improve the service, prevent abuse, and comply with the law.
You can browse parts of Pank without creating an account. Some features require login, such as following users, saving content, rating, reviewing, uploading content, interacting with other users, or using personalized features.
We do not use background location tracking. We may use your location, with your permission, to show nearby experiences, calculate distances, improve search, personalize feeds, and support future features such as check-ins.
You own the content you upload, but you grant Pank the right to use it to operate, promote and improve the service.
3. Personal Data We Collect
3.1 Account data
When you create an account, we may collect: name; display name; username; email address; profile picture; account ID from Apple or Google; login provider information; account creation date; account settings; language and region preferences. At launch, Pank supports login through Google and Apple. We may add other login methods in the future.
3.2 Profile and social data
Depending on the features you use, we may process: your public profile; profile picture; bio; followers; following; friend requests; saved places; collections; lists; ratings; reviews; comments; reactions; preferences; activity in the app. Some profile information may be visible to other users.
3.3 Content you create or upload
You may create or upload content such as: ratings; reviews; comments; photos; videos; captions; collections; lists; reactions; check-ins; messages, if messaging is introduced; reports; business information suggestions; other user-generated content. This content may include personal data about you or others. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to upload or share content.
3.4 Location data
We may process location data to provide location-based features. This may include: approximate location based on IP address; precise location, if you grant device permission; searched locations; selected map areas; distance to venues; location-based recommendations. We do not use background location tracking. Pank only accesses precise location when permitted by your device settings and when needed for app functionality. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
3.5 Usage and activity data
We may collect information about how you use Pank, including: searches; views; taps; clicks; likes; saves; ratings; reviews; followed users; friend requests; reports; viewed businesses or experiences; time spent in the app; referral source; app interactions; feature usage; notification interactions.
3.6 Device, technical and log data
We may collect: IP address; device type; operating system; app version; browser type; language settings; time zone; crash logs; performance data; diagnostic data; device identifiers; push notification token; security logs.
3.7 Data from Google, Apple and other third parties
If you log in through Google or Apple, we receive information they provide, such as: name; email address; profile picture; account identifier; authentication status. We may also receive data from analytics providers, hosting providers, business partners, public sources, mapping providers, moderation tools, and other service providers.
3.8 Business and venue information
Pank may include information about businesses, venues, places and experiences. This may come from: user submissions; public sources; business owners; third-party providers; Pank research; partners; mapping or listing services. Business listings may exist even if a business has not claimed or verified the listing.
4. How We Use Personal Data
We use personal data to: create and manage accounts; allow users to browse Pank; show experiences, venues and businesses; provide ratings, reviews and social features; personalize recommendations; show nearby experiences; calculate distances; improve search and ranking; allow users to follow, request and connect with others; send notifications; provide customer support; moderate content; detect fake reviews, spam and abuse; protect users and businesses; improve app performance; analyze product usage; develop new features; communicate with users; send marketing, where allowed; comply with legal obligations; enforce our Terms and policies; protect our rights, users and the public.
5. Legal Bases Under GDPR
We process personal data under the following legal bases:
Contract — We process data when it is necessary to provide Pank to you, including account creation, login, ratings, reviews, profile features, saved places, social features and customer support.
Legitimate interests — We process data where we have a legitimate interest and your rights do not override that interest. This may include improving Pank, preventing fraud, detecting abuse, securing the service, understanding usage, ranking content, showing relevant recommendations, and protecting businesses and users.
Consent — We rely on consent where legally required, including for precise location access, certain cookies or tracking technologies, push notifications, and some marketing communications. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligation — We may process data when required by law, court order, public authority request, accounting obligation, regulatory requirement, or other legal duty.
6. Public Content
Some parts of Pank are public or visible to other users. This may include: your display name; username; profile picture; ratings; reviews; comments; photos; videos; followers; following; public lists; public collections; business or venue contributions. Do not post personal data that you do not want others to see.
If you delete your account, we may delete, anonymize or retain certain content depending on the feature, legal requirements, technical limitations and the need to preserve the integrity of ratings, reviews and discussions.
7. Recommendations, Ranking and Personalization
Pank may personalize experiences, recommendations, search results, trending lists, venue pages, notifications and feeds based on factors such as: your location; saved places; viewed content; search history; ratings; reviews; followed users; popularity; freshness; relevance; quality signals; safety signals; business information; user interactions; suspected spam or abuse. Pank may change ranking and recommendation systems at any time. Ratings, rankings, scores and recommendations are subjective and may not be statistically representative, complete, verified or suitable for every user.
8. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Systems
Pank may use automated systems or artificial intelligence in the future to: recommend experiences; personalize feeds; detect spam; detect fake reviews; detect harmful content; support moderation; summarize reviews; improve search; classify venues or content; provide customer support; improve safety and quality. We do not intend to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about users solely through automated processing without appropriate safeguards.
9. Notifications and Marketing
We may send: account notifications; activity notifications; friend request notifications; follower notifications; recommendation notifications; nearby experience notifications; trending place notifications; digest emails; product updates; marketing communications. You can manage push notifications in your device settings. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the email or by contacting us. Some service-related messages may still be sent even if you opt out of marketing.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Today, Pank only uses strictly necessary storage on your device: your login session and your app preferences. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics cookies or cross-site tracking — which is also why you do not see a cookie banner. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies or similar technologies (for example marketing or advertising), we will ask for your consent first where legally required.
11. Analytics
Pank does not use third-party analytics. We count visits and measure feature usage on our own infrastructure, in anonymous and aggregate form only. This includes a daily visitor count and anonymous usage events — for example which screens and which spots are viewed, and that a search was run — that carry no user id, no IP address, and no persistent identifier. These events are grouped only by a temporary session id that is created in memory when you open Pank and discarded when you close it, so they cannot be linked across visits or back to you. This helps us understand how Pank is used and improve it, without tracking you. If we ever add third-party analytics or crash-reporting providers, or any identifier that persists across sessions, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
12. Sharing Personal Data
We may share personal data with:
Service providers — such as cloud hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, email delivery, customer support, moderation, storage, security, mapping and infrastructure providers.
Login providers — such as Google and Apple, when you use their login services.
Other users — when you post public content or interact socially on Pank.
Businesses — if you interact with a business, submit a review, claim a listing, report an issue, or use a future booking, reservation, advertising or business feature.
Authorities or legal parties — if required by law, legal process, court order, government request, regulatory obligation, or to protect rights, safety and security.
Business transfers — if Pank or Key Real AB is involved in a merger, acquisition, investment, financing, sale of assets, restructuring or similar transaction.
Advertising and commercial partners — if advertising, sponsored listings, affiliate links, promoted venues, commissions, bookings or brand partnerships are introduced, we may share limited data as described in this policy and where legally allowed.
13. International Transfers
We are based in Sweden. Some service providers may process data outside Sweden, the EU or the EEA. When personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we use appropriate safeguards where required, such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, supplementary measures, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
14. Data Retention
We keep personal data only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to: provide Pank; maintain your account; show content you created; comply with legal obligations; resolve disputes; enforce agreements; prevent abuse; maintain security; protect our rights; preserve business records.
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize personal data unless we need to retain it for legal, safety, security, fraud prevention, dispute, accounting or legitimate business reasons. Backups may retain deleted data for a limited period before being overwritten.
15. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at hello@pank.co or using in-app deletion tools when available. When your account is deleted: your profile may be removed; your personal account data may be deleted or anonymized; your public content may be deleted, anonymized or retained depending on context; content involving other users may remain visible where necessary; legal or security records may be retained where required. We may retain anonymized or aggregated data that no longer identifies you.
16. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; delete your data; restrict processing; object to processing; withdraw consent; receive data portability; complain to a supervisory authority; object to direct marketing; challenge certain automated decisions.
To exercise your rights, contact hello@pank.co. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, or another competent supervisory authority.
17. Children
Pank is not intended for children under 16. If we learn that a person under 16 has created an account, we may delete the account and related data.
18. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including access controls, encryption where appropriate, monitoring, secure infrastructure, authentication controls, backups and internal restrictions. No online service is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and account access secure.
19. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we may notify you by email, in-app notice, website notice or other appropriate method. Your continued use of Pank after the effective date means the updated policy applies.
